More about Cambridge Data

Company Overview

Cambridge Data is a private company that provides online document management and technical services to small businesses and individuals. It was founded in March 2007 and launched a beta trial of the TagandFile service in May of the same year. Cambridge Data operates from bases in Cambridge and Winchester in the UK, and San Francisco in the USA.

TagandFile Service

TagandFile provides a place for professionals to store their electronic files, share them with others and access them from different devices and locations. A free service is offered for anyone to try, while the subscription services offer more storage space and features.

TagandFile Benefits and Differentiators

TagandFile allows professionals to:

  • Increase their productivity by being able to search and access their files faster and from more locations.
  • Reduce the risk of losing files since Cambridge Data run rotating backups and store the full file history.
  • Improve their relationship with clients by making it easier to share and track information.

It improves on other competing services because:

  • The tagging model of organising information allows for more flexibility since files can be classified in, and found through, multiple categories.
  • The solution fits the Software as a service model, and so provides better value, flexibility and scalability than traditional Document Management software solutions.
  • The security model requires less maintenance and is simpler to use than other alternatives. Professionals give access as they share individual documents rather than first needing to set up 'projects' or 'teamrooms' with pre-defined access for a group.
